Hi all, this may be a sudden news but we shall not let it demoralize us. We should be more unite and continue to help out in all kinds of ways that we can. The platform has been leveled to a global stage where the interaction no longer restrict to Singapore completers. Thus, we need to take more initiative to make this network to work! Everyone of you do make a difference! Here are some people whom I would like to thanks for accompany me throughout my serving term.

To my exco:

As I have mentioned before, this team is an amazing team! We indeed have a little hip cups here and there, but we managed to pull through. Without you guys, the events would not be able to take place. Every little of your effort counts. REALLY! THANK YOU!

To my Sub comms:

Although I may not have interact with you guys that much, your efforts in helping out in each event and planning process is really appreciated. You guys are our touch points to the rest of the completers. Do be proud of yourselves and be more active in the future events!

To Pris, Fu Min, Taka, IVY & all staff whom have helped us:

Thank you for being there to support us. Without you guys being our bridge with the office, we would not be able to carry out all the activities so smoothly.

To Uncle william:

Thank you for giving us the freedom to propose all the possible events for SKCC. We can feel your care and concern for the club!

Ok, so this is going to be the weirdest post ever. But to bring out a new perspective, I shall be as upfront, and as tactful(at the same time) as possible. We were at the dinner last Saturday, and i suppose Uncle William, in his nicest way possible announced to us that SKCC is going to function on a project-basis and no longer as a club.

For some(i'm not sure how many.. so the word some is relative XD) of us, this is rather sad news. I for one, actually heard of the news beforehand, but told myself not to believe it. Honestly, I just didn't want it to happen despite it being out of my control. Maybe most of you may identify that feeling with me.

But, how many of us here would say that, we've learnt alot from being in the club. That some of our better friendships were forged in the club. That we've added too much value into it, to allow its operation to be put to a halt.

Friends, perhaps this could be a blessing in disguise. I think that this is a chance for us to bring ourselves up to the next level, not just as a club, but maybe as an independent organisation, that can plan, organise and carry out activities for Kumon Completers.

You might call this for lack of a better word, a rally to rise up. In my opinion, I think that with the experience we have, and the hunger to always be learning and to rise up to the occasion, taking this step of faith, would really challenge us not just as individuals, but as a team.

To put icing on the cake, if we were to work independently, there's alot we could do, without the usual limitations. Like, form our own constitution, give a new name for ourselves, come up with a new mission and a new vision, and the whole nine yards!

It is as I have said before and this time i'll refine the words and say it again, the strength of a company, or club in this context, has nothing to do with how huge we are, or how many assets we have, but it has everything to do with our Creativity, Education and Character.

I believe that there's still so much more to be done, that this journey is not going to end just yet, that there is room for us to grow, that there is room for us to share our experiences with others who're walking that same journey. However, it is going to take all of us to be in this together, that we may grow and be a somebody of our own. Who knows, as we work independently, as we take it to as far as we want it to be, it could turn out to be something new, no one has ever dared or tired to pull before.

Most importantly, if Uncle William, is asking for ideas to pursue one's potential. Then I say to all of us who have worked so hard together. Let us answer that call, and create that platform.

To everyone here, lets bring up our opinions on the tagboard or do a post here. Let's get the show on the road! HURRAH!

MIND'S CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION 23RD DEC 2008!

THANK YOU COMPLETERS FOR MAKING THIS EVENT A SUCCESS! YOU GUYS REALLY DID A GREAT JOB! ESP ADDING SMILES TO THE TRAINEES' FACES YEA? (: KUDOS!

so let me just share with all of you readers what we've done! (: with loads of pictures alright! (:

hahaha! we were blowing balloons!! :D preparing to give to the trainees a while later...
hahaha. count the number of balloons we've blown! :D manually! (:

TIME FOR MUSICAL CHAIR! a simple game which really excites the trainees to the max? (: their energy level was filled to the brim okay! :D

and they will just keep walking till the music stops. and we have to guide them, just in case they side-tracked!

hm, what do you think they were doing?

any clues? haha! they were filling up xmas socks with those styrofoams! (: what an innovative game yea! :D soon after...

THEY WERE GIVEN SANTA HATS! finally! there was some kind of christmas "feeling"! :D

hahaha, did u all guess correctly? (: the trainees were dressed up as santas! by their beloved parents. very heart-warming isn't it?

hm, so this was what the completers planned in the end. makings pictures/cartoons from the trainees' thumbprints. thank goodness things were under control, so the mess wasn't really huge? (:

and they had some dance-along sessions! (: pictures alone can't say much, you should have seen them LIVE!

while the carollers were singing, santa popped out with presents that the trainees had waited kind of long for it? (: worth waiting! hahaha. thereafter, we had a delectable buffet for dinner and headed home! (:

a real meaningful day.

Kumon 50th Anniversary, KAO and Kumon Global Youth Forum in Japan!

This year, Kumon’s 50th Anniversary was held in, Japan, birth place of both the founder and the method of learning that has been a huge impact to many lives. A team, of 6 completers from the Singapore Completers Club (SKCC), was sent to the Land of the Rising Sun, to grace this memorable and exciting event!

On day one of the conference, Arvin, Aaron, Candy, Hsiang Ling, Htet Mon and Michael were greeted with the cold, chilly, winter morning air of Japan, but their spirits were burning as hot as the sun! During the KAO day conference, they valiantly fought the ZZZ-monster (thanks to horrible 1-hour jet lags, and Arvin didn’t sleep at all during the first night, cos he’s just crazy >.> as usual) to keep awake, and learn from other instructors, as they present their case studies on how “Excellent Students” were able to move up the levels in Kumon through the Jet Plane progress.

Eventually we came to the highlight of the conference, where awards were given out! We had our dear instructor Mrs. Leong going up twice!! On behalf of everyone in SKCC, CONGRTULATIONS! You’ve made us proud!

The fun started in the evening where we had our dinners! Imagine Kumon completers from all the other countries finally being able to meet up again from last year! It was a fantastic time of friendly reunion and tons, tons, TONS of photo-taking sessions! Yes, all completers are cam-whores :D As old and new friendships were forged and strengthen, the glorious Japanese food, ala buffet style, made the boys want to burst out of their formal wear!

Hence, day one ended late into the night, and before we know it we had day two! All of us were sent to the Tokyo dome by bus, and did I mention? The air was getting colder and colder by the hour. Brrrrrr!!! Once again, we had our usual morning battle with the sleepy-monster, as we did our best to stay awake during the morning 50th Anniversary Conference! The stakes were higher now because, the main language that day was in Japanese! We all had our translated headsets on and the fight begins… Ding! Ding! Ding! Round Two!

We were presented with the history of Kumon, the founder’s dreams and visions for his method of learning, and a brief introduction of Kumon’s plan for the next 50 years!! All’s well that ends well, and with that, the completers were taken away to Chizan-So(once again I hope I spelt that right), for our Kumon Youth Global Forum.

There, Professor Hiroshi Tasaka, author of To the Summit, gave us a philosophy lesson on, “How do we find Joy”. For once, the sleep-monster did not attack us, as we hungrily scribbled notes about his teachings, and applying it personally on our lives. He ended with this note, saying, when we talk, we must have Spirit and Wisdom. So much for Jedi powers eh, May the force be with you. RAWR!

The completers then had a chance to share their dreams and visions in groups, where we inspired and shared our values and concepts with each other, based on Hiroshi Tasaka’s lecture. It was a enriching and edifying session for all of us!

Once again, the high time of the day was during the Completers’ Networking dinner! Hurrah! The Japanese completers put on an item for us and taught us all a new song!! Michael didn’t sing it cos he was just too horrible at it, and was not concentrating on anything at all that night. He blames the many bowls of rice he accidentally ordered on the previous night (the problem with not being able to communicate in Japan). Back to the Networking Dinner, everyone had to join in some dance which we were only told much later on it had something to do with calling out dead spirits, in Japan culture, HURRAY!

So that kind of ends the day, and the Singapore Completers went back on our bus to our hotels, still wishing the day would never end L. As a last burst of cry, we made a whole lot of noise on the bus with the completers from Phillipines and Indonesia!

Alas, the conference ended, and guess what, there’s one more next year :D, so for all you completers out there who also want in on all the fun, DO COME FOR ALL OUR SKCC ACTIVITIES!!! Who knows maybe next year, you will be typing out this post ;P

dinner was not meant for us to just eat & make friends but also learn from each other.
wonder why do i say that?

because.......we had group presentations during dinner whereby, each group presented about what they have discussed during the group's discussion earlier.

being completers,we had our own great ideas on how we want to contribute to society in order to build a better world.

That was simply great & wonderful.!
